Experiences
Elephantsbefore lunch.
The lodge sits at the meeting point of three of South Africa’s great days out — the Kruger, the Panorama Route, and the lowveld’s golf courses. Tell your hosts what kind of day you want. It will be arranged before you finish your coffee.
The Big Five,
fifteen minutes away
Phabeni Gate — one of the most convenient entrances to the entire park — is a short drive down the hill. Self-drive at first light, or let us book you a guided day or night safari with operators we’ve trusted for years. Recent guests came home having seen four of the Big Five before dinner.
- Phabeni Gate ± 10 km — about 15 minutes
- Paul Kruger & Numbi gates within easy reach
- Guided day & night safaris arranged by the lodge
- Back in time for sundowners at the pool
God’s Window is a day trip
Along the escarpment above the lodge runs one of the most scenic drives on earth: God’s Window, the Blyde River Canyon — the world’s largest green canyon — Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the Three Rondavels, and the gold-rush time capsule of Pilgrim’s Rest. All of it within a comfortable loop from your verandah.
- God’s Window & Wonder View lookouts
- Blyde River Canyon & Three Rondavels
- Bourke’s Luck Potholes
- Pilgrim’s Rest, Graskop & Sabie waterfalls
Mind the giraffe on the fairway
Hazyview alone has three courses — with Sabie River Sun and Kruger Park Lodge in our direct proximity — where the game viewing sometimes comes to you mid-round. Further afield lie White River, Nelspruit, Highland Gate and the legendary Leopard Creek. We’ll gladly arrange your tee times.
- Sabie River Sun & Kruger Park Lodge — minutes away
- Leopard Creek & Highland Gate within driving distance
- Wildlife on the fairways is not a figure of speech
- Tee times & transport arranged by your hosts

Most evenings, the fish eagle calls the day closed.

Skyway Trails
Africa’s longest aerial cable trail, gliding over the forested Sabie valley.
White-water rafting
Twenty grade 2–3 rapids on the Sabie — gentle enough to learn, wild enough to grin.
Quad biking
Riverine and bushveld trails around the valley and the edge of the Kruger.
Microlight flights
Scenic flights and game spotting from the open air, out of Hazyview’s airfield.
Hot-air ballooning
The lowveld at sunrise, from a basket, with the mist still in the valleys.
And gentler still…
Horse riding, fishing, garden birding — or an unapologetic day at the pool.
